Itinerary
Day 1 - Ha Giang Trip Homestay - Breakfast & Safety Briefing
Wake up to the crisp mountain air! Forget the standard, boring hotel buffets. Your morning starts just like a true local at the Hà Giang Trip Homestay. We’ll serve you steaming plates of Bánh Cuốn (traditional steamed rice rolls)—a regional delicacy served hot straight from the kitchen. Pair it with a hot, comforting cup of local instant coffee—a true homestay classic—or a soothing, locally-foraged herbal tea to fuel up your body for the ride ahead.
Safety First, Always. Ha Giang's winding mountain passes are breathtaking, but they demand respect. Before we hit the road, our expert guides will sit down with you for a straight-talking safety briefing. We’ll walk you through the route, share essential road tips, and make sure you feel 100% confident and secure before the engines start.
Day 1 - Terraced Fields - Hands-On Local Farming Experience
Step Into an Authentic World. Our first ride takes you off the beaten path and deep into a tranquil Tay ethnic village. As you wander among the rustic, thatched-roof stilt houses, you'll hear the quiet hum of daily life and feel the unhurried rhythm of a community that has thrived here for centuries. There are no staged performances here—just real life unfolding before your eyes.
Get Your Hands Dirty. Next, we head to the spectacular rice terraces—an ancient, high-altitude farming masterpiece carved into the mountainsides. But you aren't here just to snap photos from a distance. We invite you to roll up your pants, step right into the cool mud, and learn the art of wet-rice farming alongside the locals. (Note: Mother Nature dictates the schedule, so the exact farming task depends on the current season, but we promise it will be a delightfully muddy, hands-on experience!)
Day 1 - Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Twin Moutains - Nai Nặm Đăm water fall
Fuel Up with Local Flavors. Before we tackle the high mountains, we’ll stop for a hearty lunch. You’ll feast on authentic regional dishes, thoughtfully prepared and slightly adjusted to suit international palates. This means you get to experience the rich, delicious local flavors without worrying about an upset stomach interrupting your ride!
Conquer Bac Sum Pass & Heaven Gate. With full stomachs, we begin our ascent into the rugged Dong Van Karst Plateau. Feel the adrenaline as we navigate the Bac Sum Pass—a spectacular 7-kilometer stretch of winding tarmac that climbs to 1,000 meters above sea level. We'll pull over at the summit so you can breathe in the crisp mountain air and look down at the ribbon of road you just conquered. From there, we ride to the famous Quan Ba Heaven Gate, the literal and figurative entrance to a jaw-dropping world of stone.
Discover Nam Dam Village. Just below the Heaven Gate lies Nam Dam, a deeply peaceful village belonging to the Dao ethnic minority. As we check into our homestay, you'll immediately notice the fascinating architecture: thick, rammed-earth houses built entirely by hand. This traditional design naturally keeps the homes cool in the summer and cozy in the winter.
Wash Off the Dust at Nai Waterfall. After dropping our bags, it’s time to wash off the dust of the road. We’ll take a short walk down to Nai Waterfall (Deer Waterfall), a hidden gem nestled right next to the village. Dive into the cool, refreshing mountain water, swim freely, and let the roar of the falls wash away any lingering fatigue. Pure relaxation before the sun goes down.
Day 1 - Authentic Earthen Nights: Local Comfort Food & Red Dao Healing
A Home-Cooked, Farm-to-Table Feast. After drying off from the waterfall, head back to your room for a quick, refreshing shower. Then, follow the mouth-watering aromas to our dining area for a deeply authentic, home-cooked dinner. We will treat you to classic Vietnamese comfort food: caramelized pan-fried pork with crispy edges, soft tofu simmered in a rich tomato sauce, fluffy rolled omelets, and a warm, nourishing vegetable soup made from greens harvested right from the village gardens today.
Your Time to Unwind. How you spend the rest of your evening is entirely up to you. Take a peaceful, starlit stroll around the quiet earthen village to digest your meal, or simply kick back at the homestay with another cup of soothing local herbal tea or coffee.
The Red Dao Herbal Foot Bath. While this is designed as an Eco-adventure, the Hà Giang Trip team believes you still deserve a touch of nighttime pampering. Right before you tuck into bed, we will prepare a traditional Red Dao herbal foot bath for you. Steeping your tired feet in this ancient, aromatic blend of mountain herbs is the ultimate remedy. It will instantly melt away the riding fatigue of the day and guarantee a deep, restorative sleep.
Day 2- Fuel Up, Meet the Weavers, Then Conquer Can Ty Pass
A Breakfast of Champions. Start your morning right at the homestay with a comforting, hearty breakfast. Dig into fluffy rolled omelets stuffed with savory minced meat, perfectly paired with warm, golden butter-toasted bread. On the side, enjoy the refreshing crunch of crisp, garden-fresh local cucumbers and greens. To round off your morning feast, we’ll pour you a steaming cup of local coffee or a soothing herbal tea—the perfect boost to get you fully energized for the day's ride.
The Master Weavers of Lung Tam. Kickstarting the engines, our first ride takes us down to Lung Tam commune, home to a deeply rooted traditional hemp-weaving village. Step inside the rustic workshops where our guides will walk you through the astonishingly labor-intensive process of creating this fabric. You will watch local minority artisans expertly transform raw hemp plants into stunning textiles using intricate, manual techniques passed down through countless generations.
Taming the Can Ty Pass. Bidding farewell to the master weavers, we jump back on the bikes to tackle the infamous Can Ty Pass. We’ll be honest with you: this section is a thrilling challenge! It features steep, aggressive inclines and a series of sharp, winding hairpin turns that demand your driver's full focus. But the reward? Every twist of the road opens up increasingly majestic, jaw-dropping panoramas of the deep valleys and towering karst peaks.
Day 2- From Iconic Passes to Vietnam’s Northern Frontier
Recharge in Yen Minh. After conquering the morning's twisty roads, we’ll pull into the quiet town of Yen Minh for a well-deserved lunch break. You’ll be treated to a spread of delicious, traveler-friendly local dishes—perfectly prepared to give you a taste of the region without being too heavy on the stomach. We’ll finish off the meal with another round of rich coffee or soothing herbal tea, giving you the perfect caffeine kick before we hit the road again.
Iconic Passes & Hidden Hamlets. As we push deeper into the karst plateau toward Dong Van, get ready for some of the most iconic landscapes of the entire loop. We will wind our way up the famous Tham Ma Pass and the dizzying Nine-Turn Pass (Chin Khoanh Pass)—both offering incredible, postcard-perfect vantage points. Along the way, we’ll take a breather at Lung Cam Village, a charming settlement where time seems to stand still amidst the rugged valleys.
The Legacy of the Hmong King. Next, we dive into history at the Vuong Family Mansion, widely known as the Hmong King's Palace. Built over a century ago, this grand, fortress-like estate stands as a fascinating symbol of wealth and power. Walking through its ancient stone and wood courtyards, you can almost hear the echoes of the region’s dramatic past.
The Northern Frontier & Lo Lo Chai Village. Pushing further north, we reach the very edge of the country: the Lung Cu Border Area. We’ll climb the steps to conquer the massive Lung Cu Flagpole, rewarding you with sweeping, wind-swept views stretching across the Vietnam-China border. Just a kilometer away, we’ll drop into Lo Lo Chai—a fairy-tale-like village framed by jagged peaks. Here, you'll meet the welcoming Lo Lo ethnic minority people and admire their vibrant, meticulously embroidered traditional garments and beautiful clay houses.
Arrival in the Ancient Stone Town. As the afternoon fades, we’ll cruise into our final destination for the day: the Dong Van Old Quarter. After a long, exhilarating day of riding, you’ll check in, drop your bags, kick off your boots, and enjoy a well-earned rest in the heart of this historic town.
Day 2 - Dinner, Lanterns & Local Life in Dong Van Old Quarter
A Taste of the Ancient Town. Settle into the charming, historic atmosphere of the Dong Van Old Quarter for another incredible meal. Tonight, we’ll feast on a carefully curated dinner featuring the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients, cooked up right in the heart of the town. It’s the perfect blend of rich, comforting mountain flavors and the lively, bustling energy of Dong Van by night.
Music, Lanterns, and Local Life. Once you're comfortably full, step out into the lantern-lit stone alleys. The Old Quarter truly comes alive after dark! Take a leisurely stroll and immerse yourself in the vibrant street music and cultural performances that light up the town square every single night. Feel free to join in the dancing, grab a cold local beer, mingle with the friendly locals, and soak up the festive, welcoming spirit of this mountain enclave before heading back for a good night's sleep.
Day 3 - Ma Pi Leng Pass: Epic Views, Wild Cliffs & a Cleaner Footprint
A Clean, Comforting Start. Wake up in the historic Dong Van Old Quarter and treat your stomach to a deeply comforting, healthy breakfast. We’ll serve you Dong Van’s unique style of Bánh Cuốn—delicate steamed rice rolls submerged in a clear, savory bone broth. Unlike standard fried breakfasts, this dish is wonderfully light and completely grease-free, offering the perfect, clean energy boost for an action-packed morning.
The Crown Jewel & The Death Cliff. With engines roaring, we tackle the crown jewel of the Ha Giang Loop: the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass. Prepare to have your mind blown as we navigate these towering cliffs. For the ultimate adrenaline rush, we’ll hike out to conquer the infamous "Death Cliff" (Mỏm Đá Tử Thần). Standing on this rocky outcrop rewards the brave with a heart-stopping, bird's-eye view of the winding river thousands of feet below.
The "Clean Footprint" Initiative: Give Back to Mother Earth. As we ride through the awe-inspiring Dong Van Karst Plateau, we believe in leaving nothing but tire tracks and taking nothing but memories. To honor the majestic beauty of this geological wonder, we proudly invite you to join our signature "Clean Footprint" initiative.
A Brief, Meaningful Pause on Ma Pi Leng. During our journey across the legendary pass, we will stop at safe cliffside viewpoints. Equipped with eco-friendly bags and gloves, our small group will work together to collect plastic waste and ensure it is transported back to a proper waste treatment facility.
Travel with Purpose. This is more than just sightseeing; it is a profound act of gratitude to Mother Earth. By joining this hands-on effort, you directly protect the pristine nature of the Loop for future generations, bond with your fellow riders over a shared mission, and leave the magnificent highlands cleaner than you found them!
Day 3- Cruising Through Southeast Asia’s Deepest Canyon
Cruising the Deepest Canyon in Southeast Asia. From those dizzying heights, we descend to the very bottom of the valley. Here, you will trade your helmet for a boat to cruise along the emerald waters of the Nho Que River. We'll drift peacefully straight into the jaw-dropping Tu San Gorge—proudly holding the title of the deepest canyon in all of Southeast Asia. Gliding silently between these colossal, vertical limestone walls is a truly humbling experience.
Day 3 - Jade Waters, Riverside Feasting & Bamboo Raft Adventure
The Hidden Jade Stream. After leaving the mighty river behind, we hop back on the bikes and ride to a hidden natural oasis: the Ban Ang Stream. Affectionately known by locals as the "Jade Stream," its remarkably pristine, crystal-clear turquoise waters will mesmerize you. It’s the perfect, tranquil stop to soak in Mother Nature’s untouched beauty. A Feast by the Stream. After an action-packed morning, we’ll settle down by the banks of Ban Ang for a mouth-watering, authentic Vietnamese feast. You’ll dig into crispy, golden-fried spring rolls, tender wok-tossed beef, savory flame-grilled meat, and soft tofu simmered in a rich tomato sauce. And of course, no local meal is complete without the beloved classic: fresh water spinach stir-fried with fragrant garlic! To cap it off, relax with a hot cup of Vietnamese coffee or a soothing herbal tea. Rustic Rafts & Hidden Caves. Once our food has settled, the real fun begins. We’ll hop onto traditional, hand-tied bamboo rafts and float our way toward a hidden cave system. Here, you are completely free to jump off the raft and plunge straight into the pristine, jade-green waters of the stream. Surrounded by lush nature, it is the ultimate, refreshing wild-swimming experience to cool off from the midday heat.
Day 3 - Scenic Roads, Countryside Calm & a Night of Connection
The Scenic Route to Du Gia. Feeling refreshed and re-energized, we jump back on the bikes and set our compass for Du Gia—a deeply scenic, off-the-beaten-path gem of the Ha Giang Loop. The ride itself is nothing short of spectacular. We won't rush; our guides will pull over at several jaw-dropping vantage points along the way so you can capture the rugged beauty of the endless mountains and deep valleys. Unwind in the Countryside. As the late afternoon sun casts a golden glow over the village, we’ll arrive in Du Gia. You’ll check into your homestay, drop your bags, and finally have time to kick back, relax, and soak in the utter tranquility of this remote mountain haven. A Cozy Homestay Dinner. As the mountain air cools down, we’ll gather around the table for a warm, family-style dinner right at our Du Gia homestay. It’s an intimate, comforting meal filled with local flavors, perfect for replenishing your energy after a day of wild swimming and mountain passes. The Night of Connection. Every night on this Ha Giang Loop has its own distinct heartbeat. On Night 1, we soaked in the profound tranquility of Nam Dam village. On Night 2, we threw ourselves into the vibrant, festive energy of Dong Van Old Quarter. Tonight, our third night, is all about connection. Stories Shared, Friendships Made. After dinner, the lines between "tourists" and "guides" completely disappear—we are all just fellow travelers and friends. We invite you to pull up a chair and gather closely with your tour guides and Easy Riders. Over a steaming cup of locally grown tea or rich coffee, we’ll swap stories, laugh about the crazy hairpin turns we conquered, and reflect on the unforgettable moments we've shared so far. It’s a deeply heartwarming, meaningful evening dedicated to celebrating the brotherhood and bonds forged on the open road.
Day 4 - A Sweet Morning and One Last Cinematic Ride
A Sweet, Gentle Start. We kick off the final day of our epic journey with a delightfully light and comforting breakfast. Treat yourself to warm, freshly made crepes—the perfect, sweet start to fuel your morning. Wash it down with your choice of a rich, robust Vietnamese coffee or a soothing cup of locally foraged herbal tea, soaking in the quiet, misty morning vibes of the village before we pack up our gear.
Riding Through the Untamed Valley. With our engines purring one last time, we begin our scenic descent back toward Ha Giang city. But the adventure isn't over yet! Along the way, we will weave our way through the spectacular Duong Thuong Valley. Prepare to be captivated by the raw, untouched beauty of this sprawling basin, where endless greenery, twisting roads, and towering karst mountains create a breathtaking, cinematic backdrop for our final ride.
Day 4 - A Final Valley Feast Before the Road Home
A Flavorful Valley Feast. Deep in the heart of the picturesque Duong Thuong Valley, we’ll pull over for our final lunch on the open road. You’ll be treated to a delicious spread of authentic local dishes, carefully prepared and slightly adjusted to suit international palates—meaning you get to experience all the rich, savory mountain flavors without any worry! Afterward, kick back and savor one last cup of robust local coffee or a soothing mountain herbal tea before we mount the bikes again.
Heading Home (But Not Just Yet!). Fueled up and ready, we’ll hit the twisting roads for the final stretch back to the Hà Giang Trip Basecamp in the city. Once we arrive, you can finally peel off your riding gear, take a well-deserved, hot shower to wash off four days of glorious mountain dust, and relax your tired muscles.
But don't pack your bags completely just yet—while the riding might be done, our epic journey still has a little more in store before we officially say goodbye
Day 4 - A Bamboo-Themed Farewell to Celebrate the Journey
"The Rustic Bamboo Night" Feast. This final evening is, without a doubt, the most important and meaningful moment of our entire journey. To celebrate, we will host an exclusive farewell dinner themed "The Rustic Bamboo Night." True to our eco-friendly values, the entire dining setup features beautiful, sustainable bamboo tableware.
Prepare your tastebuds for a spectacular spread of local specialties: fresh and crunchy Veggie Pho rolls, zesty Banana blossom salad, smoky flame-grilled pork skewers, rich tofu simmered in a tomato-mushroom sauce, and of course, crispy traditional fried spring rolls.
Heartfelt Stories & The Badge of Honor. As we break bread one last time, the Hà Giang Trip team wants to express our deepest, most sincere gratitude to you for trusting us with your adventure. This dinner is a safe, open space for heartfelt connection. We invite everyone to share their favorite memories, the craziest hairpin turns they conquered, and their personal reflections on the magic of Ha Giang.
The absolute highlight of the night? The proud moment we officially present you with your personalized "Ha Giang Loop Finisher" certificate—a lasting, tangible symbol of your grit and epic achievement!
The Journey Onward. As the farewell party draws to a close, it will be time to say our final goodbyes. A comfortable sleeper bus will arrive right at our basecamp to pick you up and safely transport you to your next pre-arranged destination. Your Ha Giang ride may be over, but the memories, the brotherhood, and the untamed spirit of the Loop will ride with you forever.
